A Recap…

October 18, 2006

I meant to update some stuff ever since July but was interrupted halfway through it… That’s why it’s been quite awhile since my last update… Anyway, here’s a month by month recap of what happened during the last 4-5 months (not counting the ones that I already blogged about in the previous entry)… (Some stuff you probably already heard because of the news or because I already mentioned about it)

JUNE
-24th – Had the dao/duen catwalk thing at Major Rangsit and wasn’t all that impressive… Just walked around the whole building and show yourself in a few clothes. Alright, I don’t mind walking around the building in front of a crowd… But having to wear a god-damn-freaking-tight shirt??! You bet that I didn’t enjoy that… Still, at least that was only for one of the shirts… The others were pretty big and not so freaking small. Pretty glad that many of the Dental students showed up even though they had to practice the faculty cheer at uni in the morning. (By the way, on the previous night, the 23rd, we had to practice walking all the way till 1 AM. Really a nightmare…)

-27th – Had the cheer competition where all first years from all the faculties have to compete by doing all these cheers, songs, and dances. Overall, it was pretty boring since we had to wait until it was our faculty’s turn to go up, which was almost near the end… But the funny thing was that our faculty put lipstick, eyeliner, and paint on all over our face and arms that we looked like a bunch of crazy people. We basically got the attention of all the other faculties XD.

-30th – The final dao/duen show. Thank God it’s finally the end. After days of getting home late [stayed until 2:30 AM the night before the big show], it’s finally come to an end. To our delight, Ploy and I didn’t make the cut since if we did, we had to answer questions about love and relationships since that was the theme of this year’s show. We were actually high-fiving each other backstage when we found out while other people were a little disappointed. Still, Ploy got the “Favorite Dao” award given to her by the show committee and P’Peaz, our “nanny”, got the “Best Nanny” award. I guess you should feel proud saying, “Hey, I got the best nanny award!” Anyway, the Thaitanium + AB Normal performances were AWESOME [especially Thaitanium's, which ended at around 1 or 2 AM]. Last but not least, to the Harrovians – sorry I wasn’t able to go to the Leavers’ Ball that day but I really couldn’t get out of this event and besides, how often do you get to go to a Thaitanium + AB Normal concert for FREE?? Don’t worry, I’ll go next year for YOUR ball ;) .

JULY
-8th - Went to the Harrow Speech Day to get a copy of The Lion and the Sixth Form’s Leavers’ Book. Had a great time meeting some people and getting to talk to them before I had to leave to go to the hospital. I was actually surprised that Mr. Wise & Mr. Herbert mentioned my name in there and had some pics of me in there [considering that I was practically non-existant in the last yearbook where the only pic of me was in the class photo]. Was quite disappointed that Mrs. Keys, who I learned English with last year and was in MUN with her this year, spelled my last name wrong, twice – once in the newsletter [which wasn't that bad since it was quite similar to my last name, just missing four letters], and again in the Lion where she called me “Jason Koonigathra”. So what, now I’m Indian??

-13th - My BIRTHDAY! Finally turned 17 so people at uni will stop staring at me blankly when I tell that I’m still 16. Have to thank those who actually remembered – Tanya [who messaged me right at midnight on MSN - I didn't even realize that it was a new day until she told me], Aom, Tan, Donut, and Pat [who called me all the way from Australia - thanks a lot man. You're lucky I had a quick break when you called me or else I wouldn't have been able to pick up the phone]. Also have to thank all my dental friends who sang happy birthday in the middle of class so loud that the chem teacher got confused at first. Lastly, thanks to Pia, Joon, Tae, Tom, Aire, Yaya, Ply, Gift, Net, Act, Wei, Petch, Pear, Praew, and Mont for buying me this really great present. Really appreciate it (this means that I’m gonna have to do a lot of payback :P ).

-14th - Finally finished the taping of the UChannel interview for the dao/duen contestants. It was really tiring (and annoying to a certain extent) since I had to keep on going back to do different things and add some more stuff for them… But finally finished it… After what, 4 weeks?!

-Had normal classes and got ready for the midterm exams, in which some were pretty good and some were a nightmare.

-ITALY WON THE WORLD CUP!

-Miss Puerto Rico competed, won the Miss Universe title, and fainted right after the show… What a great start. Wanted Japan to get it but oh well…

AUGUST
-5th - Met up with Ta, Kitti, Donut, and Raghav at Paragon after not seeing each other for… not that long ago, really… Anyway, had a great time listening to Ta’s “perfect pitch” thing where his AC talked to him and he tried to figure out the key of the toilet’s flush [XD], Kitti and his exam stories, Donut and her stories about Mahidol and how she met other Harrovians, and Raghav describing the Leavers’ Ball in detail. I embarrassed myself at Pizza Company where I was adding more cheese onto my pasta and simply turned it over when the cap fell off and half the bottle of cheese fell onto my plate. F***ING EMBARRASSING! And having the other four laughing like lunatics didn’t really help either… Anyway, now that I told my embarrassing moment, Donut and I totally beated Kitti and Ta during bowling. No idea how that happened since we usually get the lowest scores… Too bad that Pat, Nun, Joe, Bifern, and Topsy couldn’t make it though.

-Academy Fantasia – this year sucks. Seriously sucks. I don’t think I ever heard anybody sing this bad before… And girls still scream for the guys, who freaking suck. You do the logic behind that. -_-’.

SEPTEMBER
-19th - COUP. Thaksin was overthrown and we were put under martial law (and still are). We’re now ruled by a bunch of military guys and have soldiers and tanks all over the capital. Just great. We basically became a laughingstock to the whole world with citizens posing with the soldiers, giving them flowers, and parents having their kids play and stand on the tanks as if it’s freaking Children’s Day. And they say they did it because Thaksin was corrupt – but who isn’t? Weren’t all the other PMs in the past corrupt as well? And with the whole censoring CNN, BBC, CNBC, and all the other international news channels (due to “sun outage”), it’s totally against the whole idea of “democracy”. Oh well, at least it is back to normal, to a certain extent. Still under martial law & a millitary guy though.

OCTOBER
-Had my finals at the beginning of the month. Here’s a summary of all of them plus my midterms…

-Bio Lab – my midterm was quite well but the lab this time was a bit trickier and harder. So don’t know what will happen…

-Thai - Haha… My midterm was surprisingly good but I messed up my final.

-Bio Lecture – Did OK for the midterm. I think I did OK this time around too… Just hope that the mean isn’t high…

-Chem Lecture – Midterm was quite well but the mean was high. This time around, the exam was much harder with more calculations. Not sure if I did well…

-Chem Lab – Midterm was a piece of cake. The final exam wasn’t exactly hard, but it was harder. I think I did fine…

-Econ - Haha… the midterm was a shock since I didn’t expect to get a really good grade… But this time? I’ll be lucky if I get a B for my overall grade.

-Camping - Really have no idea on what the grade will turn out like since our midterm grades weren’t announced…

-12th - Visited Harrow with Donut and had a really great time. Spent the first two periods playing some cards and catching up with Bifern, Boung, Raghav, Plai, and Nithi. Maths was OK with Kitti and came down and talked to Ta, Tina, and Shigeo for a bit before going to Bio with Tina and Raghav (Ta met us there later since he had to go talk about some Music stuff). Bio was quite interesting since I’ll be learning the exact same thing when term 2 begins. Had a great time visiting you guys… Was glad to see some of my roon-nongs from Byron, teachers, Year 12 juniors, and my ROTC buddies. Actually, was a bit surprised to see so little of you guys left and that there are so many year 12s now… Maybe around 100 Year 12s? And… 20 Year 13s? totally different from last year… Anyway, glad that you guys still have your sense of humor and that the A2 stress hasn’t *completely* taken over you!

-Too bad that Coffee World was closed the week I visited Harrow due to some “disobedient” parents who bought drinks from it for their children despite the fact that the school doesn’t allow children that aren’t in the Sixth Form to have it. Ok, actually, I would do that too if my kid wanted to have it… It’s just that… Why did they have to close it the week I visited?? Why not the week after or something??? But it’s open again, so all’s probably well…

-Was told that Harrow will be having a LIVE CONFERENCE WITH KOFI ANNAN on the 20th! How f***ing cool is that?! Seems like they’re the only school in Thailand to get to do so. Tina, Raghav, and some other Harrovians will get to do it since it’s some sort of U.N. day or something. Wish you guys lotsa luck. It’s not everyday you get to talk to the U.N. Secretary General.

-14th - Had the Camping Practical exam. Nothing much really. Just a walk rally around uni since the military camp that was usually used couldn’t be used since the soldiers are all positioned throughout BKK. Really tiring… But somewhat fun in a way…

-Great… Just a week away from our Dental camp at “Kao Cha-ngoag” [a military camp]. Why are we going there? I don’t know. Just know that it’s gonna be really tiring for sure.

-Oh, forgot to mention about ROTC… I’ll just say that it’s a real pain… And am going to have another schedule clash for this new term… By the way, here’s my schedule for next term…

Well… That’s all folks…

Currently Listening: When You Were Young by The Killers (that’s not the real MV) and Good to be Here by Rooster.
